SESSION INFORMATION

Sherri Ward, MNSc, RN

Using the NCLEX-RN exam blueprint as a guide for building tests throughout the curriculum would allow for students to be best prepared for this licensure exam. In order for the NCLEX-RN exam blueprint to be mimicked, assigning Client Needs and Bloom's categories is necessary. Longitudinal reports across curriculum that identifies a student's strengths and weaknesses in regards to the NCLEX-RN blueprint would guide the student in their studies for the licensure exam and hopefully lead them to a passing score at first attempt.

Unleash the Full Potential of Examplify

Carla Hernandez

Goodbye paper exams, hello computer-based testing! Similarities certainly exist between paper testing and computer based testing, however, it takes a new approach to designing questions, proctoring exams, and reviewing exams to guarantee student buy-in with Examplify. In this session we’ll introduce Examplify’s interface, innovative test-item design, and best practices for exam reviews to ensure your students get the most value out the platform.

This session will include a brief discussion of the theoretical and practical reasons why you need a bank of test items, and then we’ll dive right in to the components of ExamSoft that will help you build that bank. We’ll explore practices for developing an organizational structure for mapping assessments, collecting psychometric data on individual items, and maintaining historical records about your assessment program; all of which will help you manage the operational components of a successful computer-based testing program in order to collect meaningful data and generate reports for accreditation and program evaluation.

Sarah B. McBrien, M.S., is the Director of Assessment in the College of Allied Health Professions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Previously, she worked for UNMC's College of Medicine where she did work in curriculum, assessment, and instructional technology.
